How strange he wants to regionalise upwards from the Conference?

Why not downwards?

Another point to consider with this proposal (although it's likely to be killed off at conception) is that, as well as considerably reducing travel costs for the club and fans, it will also provide more local derbies through increased gate receipts.

One issue applicable to us -and the midlands teams- would be the possibility of being switched from North to south dependent on who comes down from Division 1.
I know the lodgers have suffered in the past with a to-ing and fro-ing around the regional league pyramid, which makes player recruitment problematic.

No it isn't.

And, if I need to explain, he is suggesting dragging League 2 into a regionalised leagues. He is not saying the Conference should be dragged into a completely regionalised non-league.

Not that I am advocating it, but wouldn't it be more logical to have the FL on a national basis and below the FL simply a Conference North and South providing one FL promotion place each.

Why not absorb the Conference (or the vast majority of it) into the Football League. At present there are 72 FL clubs (ignore the Premier League) and adding another 20 will bring them back to their traditional 92. The Championship can be reduced to 20 clubs over a couple of seasons and then you would have 1 division of 20 plus 3 divisions of 24 each. The Conference would then be what is currently the North and South divisions plus those few who won't qualify to form the new League 3. The top clubs in North and South get promotion and the next two in each play off for the final promotion place. Simples!
It is only a matter of time before those good people at the National Lottery give me the jackpot that I so richly deserve.

You might get the Championship and L1 clubs moaning that the new teams will dilute their much needed TV money even further if accepted into the league pryamid.
