One of the most bizarre accounts of our history I’ve seen

Post by aberred » Sat Jan 20, 2018 10:13 pm

The first half of this film is the one of the most unusual accounts of our existence I’ve seen.

No disrespect to those involved.

Probably merits a First Class Honours degree with the way education is these days.

Yes, I'm an old git who graduated nearly 40 years ago but I'm really not at all bitter with the way degrees have since been devalued ...

Football, sex and drugs were so much better in the 1970s.

Just want to get out of this sodding league, please.

I remember a young lad who was at university in Swansea making a documentary where he got some exclusive and unexpected footage with Lionel Newton. Apparently he graduated but does anyone know what's happened to him since?

In the 1970s we took drugs to be hip.....these days we take drugs for our hip............

Hello there, that was me.
Although i was studying at Aberystwyth rather than Swansea.

Thanks for your help with the documentary, and your chat with Lionel which we caught on camera which helped hugley. The documentary is on a VHS somewhere, and got nominated for a regional student RTS award.

As for me, I graduated, in 2002. I'm now a broadcast journalist, working for the BBC in the main. You can hear me on BBC 5live (tomorrow night reading the sport from 1030). I also read the news on there from time to time. I also work for the World Service, BBC World TV, do some gigs on Final Score, and present matchday coverage on BBC Radio Leeds so I get to keep a close eye on how Joe Lolley is fairing (sadly I wasn't there to see his goal, although I did see his Prem debut).

Thanks again Alan.

This thread got me thinking, there's obviously enough talent (writing, journalistic and anoraks!) within the Harriers fan-base to maybe get our heads together and compile an update to the 1987 Harriers history that Colin Youngjohns started....?????

Anyone up for a go?

If I hadn't have got a job as quickly as I had this summer - I'd planned contacting the club to see where Colin is with his update. Been thinking about this for a while. Would be a really good thing to produce - think what's happened in the club's history since then!
The best team we ever had- since i've been watching the Harriers (2002-)

Happy to be part of the compilation Team for Colin Youngjohn's Harriers History update. I can supply enough material from the comprehensive scrapbooks I've been doing since 1967. How sad is that!!
