I never understood the anti-Ox brigade. He did well today. Well done lads.

Just got back.
Today’s result was not a shock at all.
A friend of mine reminded me of the Forest Green game in 2000 after we sealed our last league title. We blew a 3-0 lead with 20 mins left against an ‘up for it’ side desperately battling relegation. Any other time we would have been apoplectic. But we’d won the league. We didn’t care, and I got the feeling today Chesterfield played like a team who’s job for the season was done. I doubt they cared either.
We were in the right place at the right time, and took full advantage. Was exhilarating to see Preston score for us in what’s likely to be one of his last games for us.

Why would it be one of Preston's last games for us?
Highlights go live at 11.45pm by the way...

I do not agree with some of the theories on here that some futures are already decided, especially those who find themselves in the 16 regularly. It would be counter productive given our position, plus our own managers future isn’t decided. Players are clearly playing for the badge and have been all season. Plenty are also playing for their own futures.SCF1985 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 5:26 amIt might not be, but it’s strongly implied he won’t be with us next season.
That aside, There will need to be some cold and calculated decisions in the summer regardless of league we are in. Prestons ability is clear. He made a huge difference again yesterday. Our best defender when fit. Him being available is an issue and would it be a luxury we could afford or worth a gamble again? These are discussions to have in three weeks or so.

We need to pray to these football gods PB keeps mentioning, that Barnet keep their 4 point gap with 3rd place and decide to rest up on our final game of the season!

Football gods to release the Kiddy handbrake, give it 3 more kitchen sinks, all wrapped up with PB giving a rousing rendition of Sloop John B at Barnet on 20 April!

Didn't get to watch the match yesterday, caught the last 25 minutes on the stick but a brilliant and typical 3 points from us.
FYI - if anybody wants a good laugh, have a look on Chesterfields forum on our match thread - one fan said "What an awful side to potentially lose the unbeaten run too, these wouldn’t look out of place in Staveley’s league". Never seen such a reaction from a group of fans after winning the league with a month to go...
Brilliant.

Also have a read through the score predictions thread. That's quite hilarious looking back. A few predicting a heavy defeat for usSuperkiddy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2024 11:51 amDidn't get to watch the match yesterday, caught the last 25 minutes on the stick but a brilliant and typical 3 points from us.

Great (and unexpected) result. Once they equalised I feared the worst, but we were in control for all of the second half and deserved the result
Ox did well, but Robinson for me made a huge difference with his pace, aggression and positive runs.
It's been one hell of a ride since PB came onboard. I think we need 7pts from the last three. It's never boring is it!

Just watched the highlights. Superb save from Dibble on 40 minutes to allow the second half comeback - as good as a goal.
His kicking may not be the best but he's an excellent shot stopper.

It won’t really matter to Barnet whether they come 2nd or 3rd. Both will give them a home play off SF and the final is at Wembley so no advantage finishing 3rd over 2nd.
They’re already 8 points clear of 4th meaning it is almost inevitable that their game vs us will be meaningless for them.

Draw for York tonight isn't the worst possible result, but puts them slightly out of reach for Saturday's game, Halifax with a late equaliser to make it 1-1.
