Re: Lolley Premier debut?
I attended Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield last night (I'm originally from Streatham) and was pleased to see Joe Lolley starting the match.
Sadly he was terrible!
The Huddersfield formation is tricky to pin down (modern German pressing game where they all swarm around), but he was roughly playing on the right of midfield in a 3-4-3.
His teammates didn't seem to trust him and I don't think he was passed the ball once in the final third. He put in a terrible backpass that Chung Yong Lee ran onto, should have scored, Huddersfield put it out for a corner. Cue his teammates berating him for the pass. Palace scored from the resulting corner.
One other incident that was more like the old Joe - a slide tackle dispossessed Patrick van Aanholt before Joe leapt up with the ball, turned and put on the afterburners to get away from his man. Then he was tackled. He didn't seem to have the pace he once had.
That was it - substituted at half time.
I can't see him succeeding at premiership level based on this 45 mins.

Re: Lolley Premier debut?
Lolley had a lot of pace at this level but his pace wouldn't be anything special at Premiership standard and that is discounting the effects of his injuries.
He's been on the fringes for Huddersfield for a long time so i doubt he will get a chance in the Premiership, wish him the best but reckon he needs to drop down a level or two and focus on starting every week.

Re: Lolley Premier debut?
Its pretty standard to have senior players playing in the "U23s".
Wagner recently praised him and said he might get a chance in the next run of games. However, you can't help thinking a move in January could be on the cards.

Agreed. I fear unfortunately Joe is not quite Premier League quality.

I’d tend to agree with that Mystic, still probably a decent Championship League player though?

Hasn't made the squad for tonight's game against Chelsea.
Future looks to be somewhere other than Huddersfield.

Re: Lolley Premier debut?
He played the last 30+ minutes and according to those fans there, he changed the game for them. More of a free role seems to have suited him.
Really pleased for Joe who’s been written off by many, but he’s fought hard, done enough in training to progress and hopefully can force his way into the team now. His skill with the ball is top-notch, but he’s lacking pace wise at that level, however, if he can continue to do the business was then he’ll hopefully get a real shot at the first team.
