Thomas and Flowers sign
Kwame Thomas and Harry Flowers have both joined us on loan from Solihull until the end of the season.

Does this denote ambition to get that play off spot? Credit where it's due?

Agree - we are making an effort even if a little late - if anyone can get us to the play-offs it is Yates and I still think he could do it for us.ograzebrook wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 1:10 pmDoes this denote ambition to get that play off spot? Credit where it's due?

Re: Thomas and Flowers sign
A central defender & a striker - bearing in mind Harriers aren't short of C/B s I'm guessing that MY has put down some markers in terms of last Saturday's disappointing performance/result and felt he had to do something,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I'm guessing both will start against Spennymoor with Ironside and Johnson making way - otherwise why sign them??
I have to be honest I'm a little surprised MY didn't act earlier but of course he may have been told to make do with what he's got - Chorley proved otherwise!!

Hopefully they will help our push, but as above, surprised as we have Heaton & Higginson. Intersting to see who drops out.
Would have thought a physical mobile def midfielder was needed more, though Butterfield is looking promising.

Loanees are usually bit-part players, so I'm not getting too excited. Surely, if they were really good, Solihull would be hanging onto them for their own promotion push. But it would be nice if they did help towards 3 points tomorrow. As mentioned, perhaps Yates needs to make some of the usual players pull up their socks to keep their places !

Yes, these on the bench instead of academy rookies can only be a good thing.

Re: Thomas and Flowers sign
Surely midfield is the biggest problem? Declan Weeks is still not going to back tomorrow, and Daniels/Penn just not good enough for a promotion push.
We'll always struggle with a midfield three that includes at least one weak link (if not two).

Too many loans in and out of late. We are crying out for a quality settled side.

Think these two are with next season more in mind than this one. Nevertheless, looking to see them play tomorrow.
The best team we ever had- since i've been watching the Harriers (2002-)

Re: Thomas and Flowers sign
If that is the case two things spring to mind:
1. They play tomorrow as trialists for next season so we have effectively thrown in the towel as far as getting promotion this season is concerned; and/or
2. We are settling for potential Solihull rejects as far as next season's squad is concerned

Re: Thomas and Flowers sign
Two strong players physically, I think it is clear where MY thinks we are lacking. Another defeat to Chorley probably confirmed that. Unfortunately it is a difficult time of the season to get quality players in permanently, clubs won't let them go. I'd like to see MY giving his strongest XI a run of games although the injured Weeks and NCP would probably be part of that.

How Flowers gets the nod over Higginson and Heaton is a mystery to me
