Apart from Danny Andrew he's also bought in Josh Labadie (WBA) and Ashley Eastham (Blackpool). All well before the very last minute of deadline day.

So why was it always left so late when he was our manager? Answer on a postcard please.

You will not get one! as there is no explaination for it except Money Saving....

With loan players you start paying them on the first of the month youre loaning them for, doesnt matter when you sign them up...and Yatesy's signings are LOAN players, they havent signed anyone outright on a contract!

Both on loan there already, prior to his arrival at the club

Easy explanation

If he gets back to fitness, he is probably the best goal scorer in this league. Whether any player in this league is worth £50k is a different matter. Makes the £75k for MBH look like good business though.....

Clare still scoring goals at Gateshead at a rate none of our strikers can manage at the minute. Might well keep Gateshead in the BSP if he continues.

From www.footballeconomy.com

SUBDUED TRANSFER MARKET HITS CLUBS – 17/1/10

An interesting report in The Times suggests that this could be a particularly subdued transfer window: Transfers . For many years Premiership clubs have been turning increasingly to foreign players so that the 'trickle down' effect to clubs in the Football League has diminished. In the past there were even cases where clubs were able to build a new stand from the transfer of a player to the top flight. Leaving aside the plight of Portsmouth, it is Football League clubs which are in real danger. Many Championship clubs have a tendency to overspend in an effort to reach the Premiership. As we have discussed before, League 1 and League 2 clubs are very reliant on short-term cash flow like any smaller business. Former Premiership clubs relegated to League 1 have to maintain expensive infrastructures designed for the Premier League. Sooner or later a club is going to disappear altogether, as has happened in the non-league, not just go into administration and reappear free of debt. Some think that is the wake up call that football needs, but it would be devastating for the fans of the club involved, even if they formed a 'phoenix' club.

With Mangan signing for Wrexham Wednesday morning and Nick Chadwick signing for Barrow Wednesday evening, are we to read anything into this regarding who will be appointed our manager this morning ?

I like the way people talk about other conference players with such authority when they usually see them play in the flesh for two games a season. Okay, we can all read stuff in the NLP but how else are these opinions formed?

I will happily admit I know pretty much naff all about most conference players other than our own, and even that got confusing a few years ago.

I think the fact that Luton have recently transferred a few big earners and are now taking loan players from York tells you all you need to know about their finances.

It'll be even worse for them next season when they have to abide by the financial controls in the Conference, and their max. wage bill is linked to their turn over!!
