  • Appleby signs up for the rest of the season

Richie Appleby has agreed to stay at Aggborough until the end of this season.

The former England Youth player has been on at loan at the club for a month and Jan Molby, who signed Appleby for his old club Swansea from Ipswich in 1996, has been keen to keep him.

Appleby feels that the Harriers can rise higher than their current 9th placing in the league and that was one of the attractions that persuaded him to sign:
"We've got every chance of reaching the play-offs, as from what I've seen in this league, there's nothing to worry about in any team.

It's nice that Jan wanted me, it's the second time he's signed me in my career, but it wasn't the real attraction. That was first team football.

The manager here tries to play football the way it should be played and it is great to be joining such a progressive club."

    Jan said:
"Richie is another piece in the jig-saw, and this deal will enable both parties to have a further good look at each other, and we can then sit down in the summer and discuss the future."
