Richie rejects contract

Richie Appleby has finally told the Harriers manager, Ian Britton, that he will not be playing for us next season.

The club had offered him a very good new contract but as expected he has turned it down.
This will now clear the way for Jan Molby's Hull City to step in and sign him sometime after his contract with us runs out on June 30th. This is unless another club come in for him instead.

Ian Britton talking to the official website said:
"We did everything possible to keep him, but at the end of the day we were not prepared to compromise the long term financial security of the club for one player.
Richie's reasons for refusing to sign are many and varied, but those discussions must remain private between Richie and I.

Richie is a talented player and everyone at the club wishes him well wherever he choses to further his career".

On the subject of a replacement Britton said: "Now it's time for Kidderminster Harriers to move on - I will be looking to bring in a couple of players later in the summer to improve the squad.
I have my eye on three or four players who are currently in similar situations to Richie!"

Meanwhile, Jan Molby has made his first signing at Hull by taking midfielder Stuart Green on a seasons loan from Newcastle United.

Green spent some time at Carlisle on loan last season and was at one time linked with the Harriers but nothing came of it.
