Hatters in for Hinton

Craig Hinton is the latest Harriers player to be linked with another club after reports in the Express & Star indicate that he has been the subject of a bid from Stockport County.

County were relegated to the 2nd division last season and are now looking to rebuild to get back into the 1st.
They have offered £125,000 for him but appear to have been turned down by the Harriers board who had wanted £250,000 for him.

He was valued, rather highly, last year by former chairman Lionel Newton at £1m but it's unlikely any club would pay that much now that the ITV Digital fiasco has put a stop to such high transfers.

Hatters boss Carlton Palmer said:
"We offered £125,000 but they wanted £250,000. We made them an offer but we're not prepared to pay the money they're asking for him."

Hinton was signed by Graham Allner in September 1998 on a free transfer from Birmingham City. He originally played in the full back position but was converted to centre half when Jan Molby joined the club and has now made this position his own.

He has attracted a lot of attention from other clubs during his time at Aggborough but this is the first time an offer has been made.

County have said that they are now looking elsewhere but they may be back.
