  • three rattled in at redditch
  • The Harriers continued their good pre-season form at the Valley Stadium, Redditch, with a fine 3-0 win.

Jan looks to be deciding on his first team now with only five changes half way through the second half.

I think that the starting line-up was the stronger of the two teams today with good running and passing from Daire Doyle and Darren Middleton.
Although Jan played Middleton upfront with Stewart Hadley I don't think that's his best position.
He seems more effective playing wide.

The first goal came after eleven minutes of continuous Harriers pressure when Hadley turned in Middleton's cross.

It was another Middleton cross half way through the half that bought the second when Craig Hinton slid in front of the defender and deflected the ball into the net.

Middleton gained his just rewards later when he turned Doyles cross home.

The second half kicked off with out any changes but the game was a poor shadow of the first half.

    The momentum had been lost.

Jan bought on Clarkson, Ayres, Davies, Ducros and Lewis for M-O, Smith, Hinton, Hadley and Middleton but there was no real improvement.

Redditch had tightened up their defence and Doyle, Ducros and Lewis struggled to make headway.

    Harriers:
Brock, Medou-Otye (Clarkson), Joy, Abdou, Smith (Ayres), Hinton (Davies), Williams, Blake, Doyle, Hadley (Ducros), Middleton (Lewis).

Jan has decided not to persevere with Steeve Epesse-Titi who had been on trial for the last two games and has been let go.

There was also the first appearance of the new first team coach with ex WBA superstar, Ernie Gould, shouting instructions from the barrier.

If anyone remembers Ernie from his playing days could you please let me know cos I'm damned if I've ever heard of him.
