Hatters get petty cash fine

Luton Town were handed out a fine by a FA Board at Walsall today for not fielding a team against us at Aggborough on December 1st.

The board fined them £20,000 + £10,000 as compensation for loss of income to the Harriers.

There was no points fine involved.

The amount seems minor considering that the same board fined Carlisle £25,000 yesterday for fielding one ineligible player in their game against Mansfield but fine Luton £5,000 less for fielding no players at all.

It also seems such a small amount for a club that could easily afford more.

May be the fact that FA Director Graham Kelly is also on the board of Luton came into the equation, allegedly.

League spokesman John Nagle said after the decision was made:
"The onus to fulfil the fixture rests with clubs.
However the panel felt a fine rather than a points deduction was the most appropriate penalty in the circumstances."

And Joe Kinnear, Luton manager said:
"I’m delighted now that’s all behind us.
Now we have to get on with it. We have to take the fine on the chin, give them twenty grand and give Kidderminster £10,000 and go on with it now.

It’s what we do from now until the end of the season that’s most important".

Now what can we spend the money on?
