Harriers travel down to the muddy wastes of the Thames estuary tomorrow when they take on Southend Utd.

At the moment Southend are one place above us in the table but that could all change by 5:45pm tomorrow evening if, and that's a big if, we play as we did on Tuesday night against York City.

Then we saw first goals of the season for all three scorers now lets see them start to build on that.

It looks like being the same side again, with both Adie Smith and Mark Shail still out through injury, so this should see another outing for wonder kid, Abdou Sall.

Jan has said that he doesn't want to change the formation around too much so it looks like we shall probably start with the same 4-3-3 as the other night but not be so adventurous.
"We don't have to play as well as we did on Tuesday to beat Southend, but we need to keep all the good things about our game like the pace of it and the high tempo.

Southend's a hostile place to go to but we'll be on the back of a good win and they'll be on the back of two away defeats. Hopefully we can go there and continue where we left off on Tuesday."

    Harriers (from):
Brock, Murphy, Joy, Stamps, Medou-Otye, Clarkson, Sall, Hinton, Blake, Williams, Bird, Davies, Bennett, Shilton, Doyle, Foster, Hadley, Broughton, Larkin, Ducros, Corbett.

Southend have a new manager in Rob Newman who took over from Dave Webb. He retired for health reasons a few weeks ago.

Southend were expected to be amongst the front runners this season but so far have failed to set the place on fire.

They have won 6 games this season with only one coming away from home, that was when they beat Rushden & Diamonds at Nene Park on Sept 8th.

The Shrimpers have lost both their last two games, although these were also both away from home, at York and at Scunthorpe last Tuesday.

They also have a bit of a sickie list.

Ben Smith is out with ligament trouble and Kevin Maher will be out with a knee injury.
There are doubts about Tony Richards, Stuart Thurgood and Scott Forbes who are all returning from injury but lack match fitness.

One who should turn out is one of Jan's close season targets, Carl Hutchins.
Hutchins was interested in the very tempting 3 year contract on top wages that the board offered him but decided to stay at Southend on a month to month contract??

    Southend (from):
Flahavan, Capleton, Cort, Searle, Whelan, Hutchings, Johnson, McSweeney, Beard, Bramble, Webb, Kerrigan, Rawle, Belgrave, Broad, Harris, Wardley, Risbridger, Hunter, Pitts, Gay, Holness.

Tomorrow's game has been declared 'Essex Girls Day' by some sad people at Southend and all females turning up can get in for half price.
I don't know if this also includes female Harriers fans and also if there will be an age limit on these 'girls'.

So chaps, if you want to get in for cheap then put on a blonde wig, your tiniest mini-skirt, white stilettos, white handbag and a nice bit of lippy.

You will also get free admittance if your name is either Sharon or Tracie.

It's all a bit sexist if you ask me.
