Blakey scores against his old mates.

The Harriers captain, Mark Blake, gave the Mansfield fans the perfect riposte to their barracking when he grabbed the equaliser in this hard fought 1-1 draw.

Until he scored it looked like the Reds were on their way to their first home defeat of the season after Chris Greenacre had put the Stags in front with a well taken goal.

Jan decided to start the game with Ian Clarkson reclaiming his right back spot after the injury to Lee Ayres and the suspension of Parfait.
By the end of the game Ian had done enough to deserve a permanent recall.

Their was also a home debut for Danny Williams in midfield.

Again the Harriers started the game poorly and this time it lasted the whole of the first half. The midfield was being won by Mansfield and the Harriers players seemed to be afraid to get a tackle in and were continually standing off allowing Mansfield to run at them and pass them easily.

In the first few minutes Mansfield had had a penalty appeal turned down when Adie Smith was judged to have impeded Craig Disley, but the ref only gave a free kick.

Ian Clarkson came close when his 20 yarder was saved easily by Pilkington in the Stags goal, but that was about the sum of our first half efforts.

In the twenty eighth minute Mansfield went in front after a pass from Corden found Greenacre who went between a dithering Stamps and Hinton to plant the ball below the diving Stuart Brock.

A few minutes later Blake came close from a corner but his weak header just cleared the bar.

Almost on the stoke of halftime Mansfield almost extended their lead when Greenacres back flick went to Lawrence whose strike almost went in off Craig Hinton but rolled out harmlessly for a goal kick.

HT. 0-1

The second half started with more of the same but after eight minutes Blakey had put us back into it when this time he met the corner with his head and it went under the bar.

After the goal Jan decided to make some changes and sent on Ian Foster to replace the ineffective Broughton, mind you Hadley was just as bad.

After that we started to play more as a team but even with the additions of Dean Bennett and Ian Joy for Blake and Stamps we couldn't seem to get past the Mansfield defence.

In the last few minutes we had almost clinched the win but from Shiltons corner Tony Bird just headed over the bar when he should have buried it.

FT. 1-1

Harriers-Online Man of the Match is

Ian Clarkson

He came back to face his critics and showed them how solid he could be.
In the next few matches he may become irreplaceable.
