Tony Bird joins Irish side

A Harriers favourite from last season has joined Irish club St Patrick's Athletic.  St Pat's were last seasons Irish League Champions and last week played in the Intertoto Cup against the Belgian side Ghent.Birdie takes on a Swansea City defender They ended up losing 2-0 in the first leg with Tony Bird making his debut for them but he's hopeful that the score can be reversed this Saturday for the second leg in Dublin and Bird is hoping that he'll be on the scoresheet.  The winners will face the Spanish side Malaga in the next round.

Birdie, who turned down a chance to play for Hereford Utd next season, is hoping to put the memory of his time at Aggborough under Jan Molby behind him.

"I missed four months of last season under him but I have a lot of mental strength and was never going to let it get to me.
I just want to put all that behind me and make a fresh start.  It's just nice to get first team football again.  The manager Pat Dolan and the club can't do enough for me."
