First two shown exit door

Ian Britton has wielded his axe and shown the first two players the door.  Dion Scott and Hugh McAuley were the unfortunate victims and that came as a bit of a surprise to many Harriers fans.

Dion came to the club back in February and was an immediate success with the fans.  Even more so when he scored in his second game for us at our bogie team, Carlisle.

He made a total of 19 appearances for us and was known for his no compromise tactics of clearing the ball with his first touch rather than passing it to another player.  This could have been one of the reasons why Brit decided not to keep him for another season.

Hugh McAuley was a different matter.  I got the feeling that Brit was forced into bringing him to Aggborough after losing out in the race for better signings on deadline day.  The fact that he never started a game for us and only made four substitute appearances for us gives it some weight.

Ian Britton has blamed the state of future finances at Aggborough as the reasons for letting these two go.

"This season will be financially harder for the club and unfortunately I can't keep everybody.
Hugh's attitude has been first class but I have to look at the bigger picture.

Dion is obviously disappointed not to be offered a new deal but, as with Hugh, the make-up of the squad for next season will be heavily influenced by the lack of money I have available.
He did very well for us and I'm sure he'll find another club very quickly.

He leaves with our best wishes."

I expect see a few more faces leaving soon including 3 that I think will come as a disappointment to us fans who had been thinking that the team for next season would be built around them.

The dismissal of Hugh MaCauley would also have been a bit of a blow to him, coming as it did on his birthday.
