We jet off to Southend tomorrow night looking for our first away win of the season against a side who are going strong at the moment, sitting in eighth place in the table.
They beat Macclesfield 1-0 at home on Saturday with a goal from Leon Cort but it doesn't hide the fact that they've lost twice at home already this season.
With our improved showing against Scunthorpe on Saturday and the arrival of the promising Melligan and Clyde on loan from Wolves this could be our lucky night.
Southend have no injury problems although Stephen Broad did receive a head injury against Wimbledon in the Worthington Cup, that required stitches. This has now passed inspection by the League's Medical Officer and is Ok to play tomorrow
We still have the usual faces out of action. As well as long term Mark Blake (achilles) we still have Abdou Sall (ankle), Adie Smith (hamstring) and Sean Parrish (hamstring) out with no sign of a comeback.
Minor bumps and scrapes from 'Oop North' were received by Danny Williams (hamstring), Lee Ayres (knee) and Bo Henriksen (abductor, still). All these are fit to play anyway.
The good news is that, all being well,
Dean Bennett could make an appearance sometime during the game now that he's recovered from the swelling around his ankle. This is much reduced and he's nearly ready for a comeback.
Last season we went down to one of the quickest goals ever scored against us when Carl Hutchins scored almost from the kick off. That was the only goal scored and after that we finished the stronger side but failed to hit the back of the net.
Here's hoping we get something from there tomorrow.
