Reds start with a weekend double in the sun

The Harriers started the countdown to the new season with a winning double over local opposition this weekend.

Yesterday they travelled south to Evesham for their first friendly and with a different side competing in each half they won 3-0 with goals from regular Matt Lewis and triallists John Williams and Eliot Paschalis.

Today, Sunday, the coach headed East for a game at Stratford on Avon and the lads came home with a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Graham Ward.  Ward is on trial from Wolves and from the two games so far seems a good prospect.

John Williams, who has played for Coventry, Hereford, Exeter and Swansea amongst others has had an indifferent time missing a few open goals and with his age against him, he's 35, looks unlikely to be signed full time.

One that has shone so far is Nick Heath.  He came on once as a sub last season and after a good game yesterday started well today until he got injured and was taken off.

Neither Bo Henriksen or Lee Ayres have played this weekend as a precaution.  They have both picked up training ground knocks, achilles for Bo and an ankle injury for Lee.
