This time last season Torquay were a mid table outfit always threatening to make the play-offs and at the same time trying to avoid being sucked into the relegation zone.  They've been like that ever since we entertained them on our debut to the Football League in the year 2000.

They've always produced attractive football but without the killer edge.  This season they've surprised even themselves and, if results go their way, but hopefully not, they could gain the last automatic place in preference to Huddersfield.

This has all been achieved with basically the same set of players that they had last season.  It's just that they are now maturing into a very good side.

The main goal threat for the Gulls come from the boots of David Graham and Jo Kuffour.  These two have combined to add 30 goals to the tally of 65 so far this season.  Graham has now been given the added honour of being included in the PFA 3rd Division team of the season along with his team mate Alex Russell, a former target of Jan Molby.

Torquay's attempt to get promoted is a classic example of the little guy punching above his weight and all power to them.  It's good to see a decent, friendly side like the Gulls doing well.

The only doubt they have for the game with us is Lee Canoville.  He's missed the last four games through injury but is now back in training and could make a subs appearance against us.

Now we're safe from relegation we can relax and play the game how we like it but last week against Rochdale it seemed that we had relaxed a bit too much.  This week we expect to see a bit more effort from all the team, including the one's who want a new contract for next season.

Last weeks result was a joke and cannot be repeated.  If it is then I'm sure that Jan won't be saying much this time, he'll just start to wield the axe.

Abdou Sall will be serving his one match suspension for this game following his sending off at Cambridge but we have no new injuries to report.  So it's still just Bennett, Keates, Willis and Kenny Coleman.
