Big defender in to add Iron

Mark Jackson Stuart Watkiss has added a new defender to the roster today in an effort to plug the gaps in a defence that has been leaking goals with ease.  Mark Jackson has signed from promotion chasers Scunthorpe Utd to become our fortieth signing of the season.

He began his career at Leeds Utd when they were a top flight club but left them when David O'Leary took over as manager.  He signed for Scunthorpe, via a couple of loans at Huddersfield and Barnsley, in March 2003 and soon earned himself the captains arm band there.

Mark broke his ankle mid way through last season but failed to regain his place after Scunthorpe signed Cliff Byrne from Sunderland.

He has signed for us on a free transfer until the close of next season and will go straight into the squad for tomorrows game at Shrewsbury.
