Hinton set to go a roving
After stalling on a new deal, and seeing his best mate, Dean Bennett, put pen to paper, long serving, former Player of the Year, Craig Hinton has told Jan Molby that he will not be signing a new contract and is in talks with Bristol Rovers.
Craig, who was bought to the club by former manager Graham Allner in 1998, has been an ever present since then and has won many admirers with his solid displays in whichever position he's found himself in.
He was linked with a £100,000 move to Stockport County two years ago but with the sacking of Carlton Palmer that move fell through. Since then he has seen new faces come into the side and has always kept his place but towards the end of last season it was obvious that he wasn't happy at the club anymore with indifferent displays on more than one occasion.
When contract talks came up the club took the unusual decision to reduce players wages. There have been plenty of cutbacks behind the scenes in the past few years but it must have come as a surprise to the players to be told that their, already small, salary would be part of the cuts.
Deano may not have been worried about that but Craig obviously has a bit more ambition and feels that his services would be appreciated more elsewhere.
Following the temporary moves by Bo and Danny it looks certain that he'll be joining the exodus down the M5 to Bristol before the end of the week.
