Pompey prodigy pops in
The Harriers today bought in a new striker but with this one there's a bit of a twist.
Because of the situation regarding the amount of loans a club are allowed to have during a season, and the complicated rules that surround that, Jan has cutely gone for a young youth team player from Premier side Portsmouth. James Keene is one of the most closely watched youngsters in the Premiership with many bigger clubs than Portsmouth having him watched on a regular basis.
The reason is not hard to see because this eighteen year old has scored twelve goals in eleven reserves games so far this season and topped the lot by grabbing a hat trick against West Ham in mid week.
He has arrived at Aggborough as a 'work experience' player and has yet to sign a contract with Pompey. It looks as if the Portsmouth manager, Harry Redknapp, would rather see him get toughened up first by playing at a decent level before getting him to sign anything concrete. The good thing from our point of view is that if Portsmouth don't want him and he does well during his time here we should waste no time in offering him a contract with us.
James, who will be joining another Portsmouth player here, Shaun Cooper, will be in the squad at Bristol tomorrow and will be wearing the number 14 shirt.
