Striking? duo leave
The club announced this evening that both Jesper Christiansen and Youssou Diop have been dismissed.
The surprise loss of Jesper is with immediate effect and comes after his mentor, Jan Molby, re-linquished the Managers post last month. There was a clause in Jespers contract that would allow him to move on and the club decided to action that clause today.
In his time at Aggborough he was able to find the back of the net only once and that was obviously not what was intended. It was when he moved to a left of midfield réole that he began to show how good he could be with some marvelous flick-ons and excellent passing.
It would have been good to see him working with some decent strikers in this new role but the chance never came.
The leaving of Diop was a bit more complicated coming as it did after a bust up with the Physio, Jimmy Conway, at half-time in the 2-1 defeat at Grimsby two days earlier.
Youssou took a knock and when Conway came on to treat him words were exchanged first and then Jimmy found himself being pushed away. The Physio walked away from him making comments under his breath and with a minor attack of Parkinsons Disease in his wrist.
As a result of that Diop was dismissed by the club but has still been allowed to carry on training with the team until he finds himself a new club.
Between them both they scored just one goal in their time here.
