Watkiss starts his re-build

The Harriers new manager, Stuart Watkiss, today started the re-build of the wreckage that was left him by Jan Molby.  Following the shortening of Micky Mellons contract on Monday, and the defeat at Yeovil on Tuesday, Watkiss has wasted no time in bringing some new faces in to strengthen the side.

The first one to arrive was Simon Weaver from Lincoln City, via Macclesfield Town.  We were linked with this defender a few weeks ago but he elected to join Macc on loan.  This was a three month loan but now Weaver has decided to end it three weeks early to join us for the remainder of this season.

A hour later and news came through that Chris Beardsley had joined the club on a similar deal from Doncaster Rovers.  Beardsley was originally with Stuart at Mansfield and made twenty appearances for the Stags, scoring just the one goal for them before going out to Worksop on loan.  When he was released from Mansfield at the start of the season he joined newly promoted Doncaster but failed to gain a starting place.

Both will be expected to play some part in Saturdays home game against Rochdale as will a heavily hinted at striker, Richard Walker?, who is expected to sign tomorrow following the return of Darryn Stamp to Chester City.
