The main news for this game is whether John Danby will be playing or not.  He picked up a nasty foot injury at Bristol on Saturday and spent most of the game limping about his area.  Wayne Hatswell had to take his goal kicks for him.

It was thought at the time that Daniel Lewis would come on to replace him but it transpires that he too has an injury to his hand.  I think that with plenty of Ralgex applied by Jimmy Conway we'll be seeing a fit Danby between the sticks.

Chester have goalie problems of their own and will be without Wayne Brown after he sustained a calf injury in the warm-up in a recent game at Rushden.  The former Hereford & Nuneaton keeper Chris MacKenzie replaced him in last Saturdays home win against Grimsby and will continue in that position against us.  As cover for MacKenzie the City boss, Ian Rush, has bought in Colin Doyle on loan for a month from Birmingham City.

Other injuries for us are Youssou Diop (calf), Simon Brown (leg), Reuben Hazell (knee), Steve Burton (hamstring) and Micky Mellon (achilles).  Of those five the only one with a chance of making the game is Diop.

City have no other injuries to speak of.

This game will also see a few reunions when we see at first hand how much little Ben Davies has grown up and City fans will be able to welcome back an old friend in Wayne Hatswell.  Also to a lesser extent Ian Foster.

This will be the first League meeting for these two sides, mainly because it was Chester that made way for us in 2000 when we got promoted.  We have met just the once before in the Welsh Cup in January 1976 when we went out 8 - 1!!!! at the old Sealand Road.

Now, that's the kind of scoreline that we can only dream of.
