Aggborough news
Date: 09-08-05 Christie finally gets a partner
With the new season only a matter of days away the club have finally bought in a strike partner for Iyseden Christie with the arrival of Taiwo Atieno from Walsall.

He was originally supposed to have signed on loan yesterday but after the club released the news on the official website it was then withdrawn a few hours later after it appeared that the tall twenty year old had second thoughts about joining a Conference side and would rather go out on loan to a league club.  After what appears to be a stiff talking to by his manager, Paul Merson, he then changed his mind and signed today.

Taiwo Atieno Taiwo has joined on an initial five month loan with an option to extend this further if both clubs agree.  It's very doubtful wether he would be allowed to join us on a permanent basis having only just agreed to a one year contract at Walsall.

He has previously been out loan spells at Rochdale and Chester City last season without really getting their fans brimming with enthusiasm but it's agreed by both sets that he was a threat upfront.  In 16 appearances at Spotland he knocked home just two goals with only one hitting the net in four games at Chester.

At his home club he's very highly thought of with a couple of positive comments on their message boards:

I think the loan will do him good.

He's a decent striker, he might play good for you or he might not.

Hope you get him, he's better than Birch.

Taiwo is a good player he has the build to be winning aerial balls.  A decent spell with Kiddy on loan will probably get him used to 1st team football.

Anyway we'll find out for ourselves this Saturday when, hopefully, he'll line-up against Woking and bang a few past them.
