Match preview Vs Canvey Island FC

Date: 02-09-05 Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 19:45hrs
This new fangled transfer deadline day came and went without affecting the Harriers at all.    It was expected that Stuart Watkiss would be getting in a new striker and that became more urgent following our Bank Holiday win at Cambridge when our only recognised strikers both went off injured.

Iyseden Christie went off with a touch of cramp but it was originally thought that his dodgy foot was the problem but thankfully for us it was just minor.    Taiwo Atieno's injury seemed a bit more serious when a crack was heard as he fell awkwardly after a challenge from a Cambridge defender.    It turned out to be a twisted ankle but, following treatment at Walsall, he is now 50/50 to play against our visitors, Canvey, tomorrow.

Canvey will be paying their first ever visit to Aggborough and will be an unknown quantity for us.    We do know that they shouldn't be taken lightly because they have a decent bit of Cup history in recent years and defy the odds of being a small club trying to do well.

They'll have no injury problems for the game with us.

We should have no other injury problems other than the possibility of being without Atieno.    Michael Blackwood should be back for us after getting over his hamstring injury but Chris McHale is still out with broken bones in his foot.

For those exiled Harriers fans that can't get to the game the good news is that it's being shown live on the Conference TV website which can be reached either by the link to the left or via the button on this website.

This is one game that I fully expect us to win.    We do not want another result like that one against Southport last Saturday.    Let's hope that this televised thriller will be going our way.
