Match preview Vs Gravesend & Northfleet

Date: 24-09-05 Venue: Stonebridge Road Kick off: 15:00hrs
Things can't get any worse than the last two games can they.    Can they?    It's not that we are finding life back in the Conference hard it's just the fact that we are no better than all the other teams down here and we should be.    Our players should have the pedigree that goes with being an ex League club and be able to beat these teams with skillful football but it seems that they have been dragged down to the same level as them.    We just have to get the winning mentality back and that can only be achieved by hard graft and some decent passing.

Well we have another couple of tough games coming up - mind you FGR and Halifax were not supposed to be tough - and they are both winnable.    Gravesend are on a bit of a climb at the moment after beating Halifax 4-0 and coming away from Edgar St with a 1-1 draw after scoring in the dying seconds of the game.

If we can get our act back together on the pitch then I see no reason why we can't get a result at Stonebridge Rd.

It'll have to be done without Martin O'Connor though because Stuart Watkiss has decided that he will have to have a long break from football following the continuous withdrawal of him at half times.   His bad knee is obviously breaking down after too much exertion and I think that we won't be seeing much of him even when he is fit.    Laurie Wilson will probably take his place because the other option, Wayne Graves, could also miss the game after picking up a knee injury of his own on Tuesday evening.

Also likely to miss out on a trip to Kent will be Michael Blackwood (personal reasons) and, more ominously, Taiwo Atieno.    It'll be interesting to see where the goals will come from if we have just Iyseden Christie as a lone striker.

Gravesend will be without the services of Steve McKimm and are expected to field the same team that lined up for their last two games.    The only change could be Justin Skinner coming back from injury to replace Danny Glozier at the back.

This is a game that we must get some kind of result from and if we do then we must do the same at Crawley on Tuesday night.
