Match preview Vs Halifax Town

Date: 04-02-06 Venue: The Shay Kick off: 15:00hrs
Harriers fans taking the trip up to Denton* tomorrow will have to make sure that they take their copy of 'I Spy Footballers' with them so they can get a bit of cramming in before the teams take to the field.    With six new or slightly familiar faces to get to know they'll be needing that well thumbed booklet.

We have already seen Jonny Harkness, Francino Francis and Andy White before but Jake Sedgemore, Paul Smith and Junior Osborne will be new for most of us.    Andy White has returned to the fold to take the place of the now departed Iyseden Christie but we all know that he cannot be considered in the same league as the former number nine.    He was never a prolific goal scorer, either during his time at Aggborough or at any other club that he has been to, having scored just once in his last time here and only nineteen goals in his entire seven year career.

Alongside White we'll probably see Gareth Sheldon, with only three goals to his credit he is now the Harriers leading scorer, or we might have Frankie Frankie taking the place of Issey.    That sound a more robust option but again Francis is yet to score but that'll come once his confidence levels have been raised.

Sedgemore, Smith and Osborne will be making their debuts for us in midfield or defence and I can only really see one of them starting and that's going to be Smith who should take the place of this weeks other main departure, Mark Jackson.    Jacko and Issey both signed for Rochdale this week and Jackson will be sorely missed.

This is going to be a tough game against a side sitting in joint second place in the League.    We're going to need a sterling effort from this new blend of players to enable us to continue our three game unbeaten run and luckily we have no injuries to contend with.

Halifax have only the one confirmed injury to their squad and that's Ryan Sugden but they have made a couple of new signings last month.    Steve Yates (defender) joined the Shaymen from Huddersfield mid way through January and Jon Kennedy (keeper) arrived from Accrington late on Monday.    A quiet time at Halifax compared to the Aggborough revolving door.

I think we'll be going to Halifax for the draw and with this new team not yet bedded in it might be the best policy all round.

*Halifax was renamed Denton for the TV cop show Frost.
