That possibility is still on the cards with Hereford going like a house on fire in second place and slowly, but surely, chipping away at the once monumental lead that Accrington held over them but now is down to a reachable figure.
We now have two new players on board in addition to Luke Reynolds who impressed in his debut amongst a shower of shite last week. He should strike up a decent partnership with Jon Newby who has joined us from Bury. As I remember from previous sightings of Newby he likes to come in from a wide position so could take the place of Michael Blackwood after he was taken off before half time against Aldershot.
Simon Rea is the other new signing and it's expected that he'll step into the position now vacant at right back now that Junior Osborne has returned to Watford.
We seem to have no injuries, the only one could be Wayne Graves if he can find some other part of his body to get injured, no suspensions and just the absent without anyone seeming to know the whereabouts of Paul Smith.
Hereford fans are also looking forward to a 10 - 0 victory over us and who can blame them. They've been on a fine run of form lately and their hard worked win at Burton last week came against the run of play but once they got the lead they held onto it with some stalwart defending.
They'll be without a handful of players with Simon Travis (back), Adam Stansfield (cheekbone) Stacey Caldicott (back) and Guy Ipoua (calf) all missing.
The last time we went down there, for an official match, we ground out a goal apiece draw against them but I'll be very surprised if we achieve anything similar this time round. We also took around a thousand fans to Edgar St but this time I'd expect much less than half of that figure.
We'll be in that concrete shambles of a stand called the Len Weston from where the view on the terracing is abysmal and obstructed by thick concrete pillars. A far better, and affordable, choice would be to sit down in the upper tier and that's just where I'll be with my head in my hands, squinting through my fingers more in hope than expectancy.
