Match preview Vs Stevenage Borough

Date: 12-11-05 Venue: Broadhall Way Kick off: 15:00hrs
Stuart Watkiss acted quickly to solve our injury crisis yesterday by bring in the Burnley youth team striker, Marc Pugh, in on loan.    This will mean that one problem area has been solved and he will be filling in for Simon Russell after the blonde bombshell broke his wrist against Exeter City last Saturday meaning that he will be out for at least twelve weeks.

Wayne Graves We also have injuries to Gareth Sheldon and Martin O'Connor and they too will be missing the next few games.    Sheldon originally pulled his hamstring against Hereford Utd but was determined to play against his old City team mates last week.    Sadly he only managed the first half and a small part of the second before he was taken off and replaced with Lee Thompson who should again deputise for him at Stevenage.

O'Connor rarely lasts a full game anyway but the rub there is that it's the disappointing Laurie Wilson that takes over and that's when the team usually falls apart.    That was the case against Exeter when we were holding onto a slender lead but once Wilson came on we quickly went 2-1 down and ultimate defeat.

There should also be a return following injury for winger Michael Blackwood and there is also talk of Wayne Graves making it to the bench.   There's a photo of him on here just in case you can't quite place him.

Our opponents tomorrow, Stevenage, also have a bit of an injury crisis which is a great bit of news for us.    The following is basically their squad list for this season and all have spent some time under the nurse in the first aid room:
Micky Warner, Michael Brough, Ollie Berquez, Jon Nurse, Chris Sullivan, George Boyd, Matthew Hocking, Jason Goodliffe, Ronnie Henry, Danny Williams and Simon Weatherstone.

I don't care if they all make miraculous recoveries as long as George Boyd doesn't.    This young lad is taking the Conference by storm and is in the process of being appraised by almost all of the clubs in the Football League simply for the reason that he's scoring goals for fun and we don't want him adding to his seasons tally of seven against us.

The other two dangermen for the Boro are Antony Elding and Darren Stamp.    Elding is dangerous for the simple reason that he likes to wind players up and get them booked and Stamp is dangerous because he used to play for us.    Shame he wasn't dangerous while he was at Aggborough.

Another one that will be missing for Stevenage is Dino Maamria.    He was sent off in a recent game at Gravesend and will miss the game against us while he serves his two game punishment.

I can't see us getting much return from this trip to Hertfordshire and the only reason we might come back with a point is because of their injury problems.    Lets see if this new lad can get some goals to back up his reputation.
