Match preview Vs Stevenage Borough

Date: 01-04-06 Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 15:00hrs
Mark Yates has told his squad that they have to be mean bastards when they play in future because after last Tuesdays second episode in 'How to alienate fans and drive them away for good' when they capitulated to a slick Grays Athletic and lost 5-0.    He wants them to be well hard and be like him when he was playing and to make sure that any opponent know that they have been in a game with us.    It worked to a certain extent at Hereford but if we try that tactic against Stevenage then we might have to be prepared for a bloodbath.

Yates had this to say following the Grays game:
"Aaron's a handful and at times he toyed with us - if I'd have been out there I'd have left my mark on him, but we haven't got anyone big enough to do that.

It's a lack of something - we played decent football at times but we didn't do the ugly things well enough.

Darryn Stamp We were too easy to play against but it's another learning curve for me and for the team.    It opens my eyes towards what could be some players' downfall from here for next season."

Missing from Tuesdays game was Luke Reynolds after he took a slight knock at Hereford.    He should be back in the side and will partner Jon Newby up front where they looked to be building a decent partnership.    It should be a hundred times more productive than the Newby/Sheldon duo that didn't look like scoring at all against Grays.

Wayne Graves will still be missing, no doubt, and Daryl Burgess could be another one out after going off in the first half the other night after he picked up an injury

Stevenage are old friends from our last time in the Conference and we had many a bruising battle with them both at Aggborough and at their home at Broadhall Way.    Going by talk about them on various message boards they haven't changed all that much during our absence and are still a bit of a tough cookie.

They have a former Harrier - Darryn Stamp - in their ranks and it was he who scored twice from the spot when we lost 3-1 there back in November last year.    He has also scored in all their last four games and is on a bit of a run that needs stopping.

No injuries are known for Stevenage but Ollie Berquez misses the game due to a two match ban.

It goes without saying that this is yet another game that we must get something from.    Wether on our recent form it's going to be three points is debatable.
