The Harriers finished their away programme for this season at Dagenham with yet another awful display as they went down 3-0 to Dagenham. A scoreline that Dagenham took into the half-time break with them.
The second half was no better for us and we even conspired to miss a penalty, taken by Jon Newby, that hit the post and bounced back into the hands of the keeper. Gareth Sheldon had our only other chance of a goal in the game and it's obvious that half this team are not fighting for a new contract and don't want to play for us next season.
Johnny Mullins and Michael Blackwood both came back into the side after missing the two previous games through suspension. Jonny Harkness didn't even make the squad cut. Lee Thompson was the one to make way for Blackwood and Simon Russell returned to the bench from his recent injury.
Dagenham suffered a setback within the opening few minutes of the game when their skipper, Tim Cole, twisted his ankle and could take no further part in the game but it didn't stop them taking the lead on the half hour mark when Sam Saunders sent in a speculative volley that came off Daryl Burgess on the way in and left Danny Lewis unable to reach it.
In the remaining fifteen minutes Craig Mackail-Smith rattled in two more goals to seal the points for the Daggers. For the first one Paul Benson broke clear to cross the ball from the left for Mackail-Smith to slide the ball home from close range and the second goal came just three minutes after when Chris Moore was the provider this time with another cross for Mackail-Smith to score his second goal of the afternoon.
