Date: 25-07-2008 Harriers score three but it's all in vain
The Harriers scored three times in only their second game of the Errea Challenge Cup but it was all in vain because we made our exit the previous night when, due to some frankly weird ruling, Chertsey scored in their 4-1 defeat against Yeovil and so were awarded one point for scoring and finished above us even though we have both won one game each.

Our three goals came through two triallists - Martin Brittain and Marco Addagio - and one old timer - Matt Barnes-Homer.

Brittain opened the scoring in the seventeenth minute with a free kick that nestled itself into the top corner of the net.  There was no further scoring from us until the start of the second half although we did come close with efforts from Michael Bowler and Mark Creighton, playing his first game since picking up a groin injury on the first day back from their summer break.

Just before the end of the half Barnstaple grabbed a come back goal through Lee Francis.

The second half opened with a goal from Addagio that gave us back the lead.  We made a handful of changes to the team with further chances falling to David McDermott, Justin Richards and Barnes-Homer.

It was MBH who was to score the final goal of the night when he finished off a great move from Darryl Knights to sweep the ball into the home sides net.

Harriers:
Bartlett, Ferrell, Riley, Creighton, Bowler, McGrath, Foley, McDermott, Brittain, Barnes-Homer, Addagio.
Subs:
Knights, Richards, Bignot, Smikle, Jones, Russell, Bennett.
