The semi-final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup against Redditch last night saw a fairly comfortable Harriers victory.
With all our fit first team squad players who have not started the last couple of games getting a run out with a strong representation from our Youth team we were always in control of the game and any nervousness was soon addressed by an early goal from Stefan Moore.
The game was nicely wrapped up in the second half with two goals from Nick Ingram who had come on as a sub. His first goal came via a strong downward header and the second a driven shot in off the post as the keeper got the faintest of touches to it.
Our midfield was energetic and effective with McDermott showing tremendous energy and purpose and Michael Carr looking to drive forward and try and emulate the three goals he scored in the last round at Stourbridge. It was a little disappointing that we did not make more use of Jamie Insall on the wing who has both pace and ability to beat full backs at this level and deliver quality crosses into the penalty area.
The first team players gave good support and encouragement to those from the Youth team which demonstrated the team approach to this game.
We will meet Evesham United in the two legged final, at a date to be arranged, and with the same application and commitment we can lift this trophy for the first time in a long while. There are some good lads in the Youth Team and they have made a quality contribution to our progress in this competition.
Thanks to Pershore Harrier for this match report.
