Match preview Vs Cambridge Utd    FA Cup 1st rd

gif

Date: 08-11-08gif Venue: Aggboroughgif Kick off: 15:00hrs
It's FA Cup time once more and even though we were hoping for the draw to favour us with a trip to Leeds or Leicester it wasn't to be but we do get a pretty good tie instead.  Cambridge were drawn out of the hat to visit us tomorrow and this top of the table clash should see a few more people coming through the Aggborough turnstiles.

Both teams can concentrate on this game now that we are both out of the, arguably, more prestigious Setanta Shield.  We went out at Burton three days ago after dominating the game but not the referee while Utd went out at AFC Telford following a reportedly lack lustre display from them.  Ironically Telford will now play Burton in the next round.

We should be at full strength for the game with just Luke Jones missing because of suspension.  In his place we do have a young lad coming through the ranks in Nathan Hayward.  He made his debut towards the end of the Burton game and has now been given a squad number, 24, and because the FA are trialling seven substitutes for FA Cup games, he could be on the bench tomorrow.

The only other bit of team news from Aggborough is that Mark Yates and Stefan Moore are in talks to see if the one month agreement can be extended.

AFAIK Cambridge only have two injuries.  Courtney Pitt is coming back from a knee injury sustained in pre-season and to give him some match practice he has been sent out on loan to their own reserve side CRC who play as a separate entity in the Ridgeons League.  The only other injury was also from pre-season and that was to Andy Parkinson after he wrecked his Cruciate ligament and will be out all season.

This is going to be one tough mother of a game although we do start as favourites because of our outstanding home record against Cambridge Utd but records come to nothing when a plum draw in the next round of the FA Cup is at stake.

This game has also been designated a 'Flag Day' by me so we need to get behind the team, get those flags up and cheer the Harriers on to a win.
