Match preview Vs Torquay Utd

Date: 04-09-08 Venue: Aggborough Kick off: 19:45hrs
We'll not want to be seeing a repeat of the corresponding fixture last season when Torquay Utd gave us a lesson in finishing and former keeper Chris MacKenzie a debut he will never forget.  The 5-2 defeat saw him lobbed from the halfway line, caught in no-mans land for the third and beaten all ends up for the others.

I can't see that result coming our way again with this new look Harriers but you never can tell in football.

We have an almost stronger defence now with Keith Lowe at the club until the end of the season after signing for us on deadline day on Monday.  Also signing that day, on loan until January, was Lee Baker.  He hasn't been so impressive as Lowe but he's still getting fit following injury so give him time.

We have no injuries - we've been lucky so far - and should go with more or less the same team as we did for the 2-1 win over Rushden last week.  No suspensions either but with four players on two yellows they won't be long coming so behave yourselves Andy Ferrell, Luke Jones, Mark Creighton and Russ Penn.

Torquay are having an indifferent start to the season and following last seasons play-off finish are struggling to find the same kind of form.  They're slowly becoming a non-league club.

They've only won once this season at home to Woking and lost three in a row between August 18th to the 25th.  Their last game, also televised, was away to York City and they managed a 1-1 draw in that one.

They have just the one player missing through suspension and that's the former Halifax and Crawley man Tyrone Thompson after he was sent off against Crawley and earned himself a three game rest.  Chris Todd is coming back from injury and is now available for selection.

They didn't bring in any new faces before the deadline and the only one to leave was a goalkeeper, Martin Rice, and that was during August.  He's gone to Truro on loan for the remainder of the season but can be re-called at any time.

This game will be shown on TV with the Setanta cameras in attendance (that's why it's being played on a Thursday).  This is also a Paint the North Stand Red game so don't forget your flags for what could well be a third home win on the trot.
