Harriers Online. The wonderful world of Kidderminster Harriers

Date: 11-01-2010 gif Lewes off again, we could face Worcester
Because of the downright awful weather the FA Trophy 2nd rd game against Lewes that was originally pencilled in for last Saturday and then, because of the snow covered pitch, was called off and re-pencilled in for tomorrow evening has again become a victim of the weather.

A mixture of thawing snow, frozen ground and waterlogging has lead to this expected cancellation and the game will now be played next Tuesday, the 19th January.  The day we were supposed to be playing Ebbsfleet Utd at Aggborough.  I'm sure that Ebbsfleet will now be kicking themselves because they were given the chance to play this game on November 7th when neither side had a game due to our FA Cup exits and they turned the opportunity down.

When we do eventually get to play Lewes we could also have the long awaited chance to play Worcester City in a meaningful game again.  Apart from friendlies and WSC games we haven't played our local rivals in anger since April 1985 when we were both in the Alliance Premier League together.  That will now change if we manage to beat Lewes and City get past the obstacle of Carshalton in their, also called off, Trophy game.

That could be the kind of game to get some of the stay aways out of their armchairs and up to St Georges Lane on January 30th to push the Reds on to a great victory.

The full draw is below.  Bear in mind that no games have been played yet because of all the postponements:

  • Newport County or York City vs Stalybridge Celtic or Corby Town
  • Blyth Spartans AFC or Guiseley AFC vs Gainsborough Trinity or Tamworth
  • Worcester City or Carshalton Athletic vs Kidderminster Harriers or Lewes
  • AFC Wimbledon or Altrincham vs Workington or Rushden & Diamonds
  • Cambridge United or Eastbourne Borough vs Salisbury City
  • Stevenage Borough or Vauxhall Motors vs Fleetwood Town or Dover Athletic
  • Maidenhead United or Barrow vs Gateshead or Chippenham Town
  • Chelmsford City or Crawley Town vs Oxford United or Woking
