Match preview Vs Matlock Town - FA Trophy 1st rd

gif

Date: 12-12-09gif Venue: Causeway Lanegif Kick off: 15:00hrs
We pay our first ever visit to Matlock tomorrow when we commence, and hopefully continue, our 2010 FA Trophy campaign.  We'll be hoping to progress as far as possible this time round and maybe make another appearance at Wembley Stadium.  The money would come in useful too.

Last year we got as far as York City before going out to a marathon penalty shoot out at York that ended up with a 14-13 scoreline in City's favour.

We'll be without a few players for this important game.  Martin Riley picked up his fifth yellow of the season at Stevenage last Saturday so he sits this one out while fellow defender John Finnigan will probably miss the game too because of a re-occurence of his on-going groin problem.

Loan signing Ryan Charles has been refused permission to play by Luton Town and we are waiting for clearance from Kettering for letting Damian Spencer play.

The only other absentee is Kyle Hadley who is still out with a groin problem.

Unibond Premier side Matlock are currently on a ten game unbeaten run following a 1-0 home win against second placed Boston United last weekend.  They've reached this far with Trophy successes against Loughborough Dynamo, Cambridge City and Witton Albion with the latter after a replay and now, like us, have a few players missing.

Goalkeeper Adam Sollitt, formerly of Kettering and Rushden, is out injured as is the former Lincoln City striker Dene Cropper.  Stefan Frost and Naythan Joynes are both cup tied.

On loan, from Sheffield Wednesday, Arron Jameson will keep his place in goal and Nathan Benger will be recalled in place of Cropper.  Danny Wood should also be included in the squad following a recent foot problem.

Matlock play at Causeway Lane, not far from the town centre, but the ground is slightly shabby in parts and is undergoing some remedial work.  At one end is a cricket pitch with a fence blocking access to it.  A bit like Walshes Meadow where Stourport Swifts play.

Because of the ongoing work the teams will be entering the field of play from the cricket pavilion.

In the event of a replay the game will take place at Aggborough this coming Tuesday.
