John Finnigan John Finnigan finally pulled down the curtain on his time with the Harriers today when the club cancelled his contract to allow him to go into semi-retirement.  After coming to the club at the start of last season he has rarely played a consecutive game for us due to one injury or another and now, after failing to get anywhere near a game this season, he has called it a day.

He joined us, when Mark Yates was in charge, from Cheltenham where he had been captain for many seasons but had missed out the major part of his final season with them through an ankle injury.  This had been given the all clear but then other injuries came into play and although he managed to start twenty four games last season rarely ever lasted the full ninety minutes.

When Mark Yates left to manage Cheltenham John took over as caretaker manager for a short while and was also, unsuccessfully, hopeful of the managers job on a full time basis.  That went to Steve Burr and John returned to helping on the coaching side.

He's now taking some time out to assess his options of wether to remain in the playing side of the game or to spend more time gaining his coaching qualifications.

Harriers Online wishes John all the best for the future and it's just a shame that we never saw him at his best enough times.
