Former Mansfield hitman Luke Medley became the second Harriers signing in as many days as the 22 year old striker signed a one-year deal with the Aggborough side.
Last season he scored six goals for Mansfield as they finished mid-table and also spent a short time on loan at Aldershot Town, but failed to find the net there. Whilst those statistics indicate that he is hardly a prolific striker, Harriers fans will recall his substitute appearance for Mansfield at Aggborough last year, helping 'The Stags' come back from 1-0 down at half time to win 3-1.
Cause for concern should be had though, last season in a local newspaper the former Mansfield boss, Duncan Russell, described Medley as 'not training hard enough' and that he 'upset other players'. Interesting comments but a manager like Steve Burr wouldn't stand for such from a player and in an interview with the Harriers Official website he expressed a willingness to 'settle down' at the club so perhaps Mansfield had got him all wrong.
His signing now takes the number of strikers at the club to three with Marc Williams and Jamille Matt already having signed on for next season. No news about the top-scorer last season, Chris McPhee, and this signing may indicate now that he won't re-sign. Only time will tell.
