Match preview Vs Barrow

gif

Date: 15-01-11gif Venue: Holker Streetgif Kick off: 15:00hrs
Tomorrows clash at Barrow will be the second re-arranged game that we'll have played in a week.  On Tuesday we came up against a very poor Kettering that rolled over obligingly for us but I can't see Barrow doing the same.

They haven't been doing too well of late and have fallen to the relegation zone but on home ground they're still a tough nut to crack.  Although they didn't play a single game throughout December their defeat at home to Cambridge last Saturday was the first since October 2nd when Luton were the victors.

In the Cambridge game right-back Steven Spender was stretchered off following a bad tackle from Utd's James Jennings that left Spender with ligament damage.  Even then they were down to bare bones with just three players on the bench (bit like us with four on Tuesday) due to suspensions, existing injuries and a small squad.

The injury was to forward Danny Forrest who has been out with an ankle injury since October.  Phil Bolland, Robin Hulbert and Luke Chadwick were the ones out suspended but will all be available for our game.

Meanwhile the club has been linked with a move for Carlisle United striker Andy Cook and Dave Bayliss, assistant manager, is also looking for a midfield player too.

We're also supposed to be on the lookout for new faces but I can't see any one on the horizon just yet.  The situation regarding Marc Williams seems to have been cooled following Wrexhams' demand of a fee for him even though he hasn't signed a contract for them and will not sign the six month contract offered.

We should have Mark Albrighton back in contention now that he's finished his two match ban but after the side did well enough without him against Gateshead and Kettering he may find himself on the bench.  Lee Vaughan and Michael Briscoe were also missing on Tuesday with flu but they should both be ok by now.

That gives us a full, if somewhat, small squad to choose from but whoever plays I think we could be too strong for Barrow.  Especially if we play as we did the other night.

Teams:

Harriers from:
Lewis, Stevens, Vaughan, Mike Williams, Sharpe, Albrighton, Griffiths, Byrne, Shaw, Briscoe, McPhee, Briggs, Hankin, Morris, Wright, Blair, Matt, Gittings.

Barrow from:
S Pearson, Masters M Pearson, Jones, Bolland, Hulbert, Rutherford, Chadwick, Goodfellow, Blundell, Sheridan, Bayliss, Owen, Wiles, Donnelly, Edwards, Almond, Grant.
