Match preview Vs Darlington

gif

Date: 22-02-11gif Venue: Northern Echo Darlington Arenagif Kick off: 19:45hrs
Two sides on a great run of form meet up tomorrow evening for the first time in six years.  Since January 1st we have only lost one game and have collected 27 points from a possible 33 although the five point deduction a few weeks ago gives us actually only 22 points whereas Darlington have collected 16 points in the same timespace and lost twice.

Aman Verma We'll be hoping to continue our brilliant run that culminated with a fantastic last gasp winner at Cambridge on Friday just seconds after the home side had drawn level.  A deft flick off the head was Jamille Matts answer to a superbly taken free kick from Utd's Adam Marriott that silenced the cheering home crowd.

On to the game tomorrow evening and Darlington are reporting that they have a handful of injuries one of which is to the former waste of space called Aman Verma (right).  He suffered an eye injury in their draw at Forest Green on the weekend while Greg Taylor has some potential pelvic and kidney injuries obtained during the game.

John Campbell fractured three knuckles in his hand in their previous game at Cambridge while midfielder Liam Hatch will miss the game serving the final game of a two match ban for collecting ten yellow cards.  This begs the question wether Lee Vaughan will also be missing after picking up his tenth yellow at Cambridge last week.  Nothing official from the club on this yet.

Like us Darlington are in a bit of a mess financially.  Their troubles come after it was revealed that the holding company, which owns the stadium and surrounding land, has been placed in receivership.  This would put them at the mercy of any possible new owner who could easily evict them from the ground.  This hasn't pleased the current chairman, Raj Singh, who has gallantly threatened to pull out - that's very noble of him.

They could cut costs immediately by getting rid of some of their large playing staff.  Four keepers? Give me strength!

Apart from the possible loss of Vaughan we have no other real injuries and could actually be welcoming Lee Morris back into the team following his recovery from a thigh injury.  We took a few knocks at Cambridge with Keith Briggs coming out the worst but the extra days rest should have given him, and others, a chance to recover.

This is going to be one tough mother of a game and it could go either way.  I'll go for a draw because I think we're on a good roll at the moment and as Cambridge found out we don't give up that easily.
