Match preview Vs Kettering Town

gif

Date: 11-01-11gif Venue: Aggboroughgif Kick off: 19:45hrs
In the middle of a long run of January games the Harriers will be welcoming Kettering Town to Aggborough tomorrow evening in a game that had originally been planned to take place on December 18th 2010 but that day marked the beginning on one of the worst winters in living memory.  Consequently it was called off as was our game at Forest Green on Boxing Day.  That game will now be played on the 25th of this month after originally being pencilled in for 15th March.

Kettering didn't have a game on Saturday, we were up at Gateshead drawing 2-2, and so played their County Cup against local side Corby Town at home.  A team made up of regulars and youth lost that game 4-0.

In our game at Gateshead we came back from a goal down to take a 2-1 lead through Matty Blair and Nick Wright.  That scoring duo may not happen tomorrow after Wright limped off injured to be replaced by Jamille Matt who himself was coming back from injury.

Lee Vaughan missed the game through flu but could be fit to line-up in his usual right back position while Mark Albrighton will miss the second, and last game of his two match ban for getting sent off at Tamworth.

Kettering recently welcomed former Harrier Iyseden Christie back to the side after a three month lay off due to a bad knee injury.  He responded by smashing in the winning goal in their closely fought derby with local rivals Rushden.

They have also lost two important players for them when long serving defender John Dempster joined promotion hopefuls Crawley Town as did the former Redditch Utd man James Dance.  Crawley are believed to have paid £50,000 for the signature of of the youngster.

If Dance, who I thought looked quite nondescript when we played them earlier in the season, is worth that much then how much is Jack Byrne, a far better player, worth?

In previous seasons this game has never given much reward.  The most annoying coming in the final game of the 08-09 when, in the final game of the season, Ben Wright scored a last gasp winner to deny the Harriers a place in the play-offs.

It's time we got our revenge for that.
