Harriers 3 Evesham Utd 2 (WSC semi-final)
The Harriers newest signing, Marvin Johnson, hit a stunning hat trick against Evesham Utd in the Worcester Senior Cup tonight. The other goals in the 6-2 win came from Marc Williams, Dan Bradley and Jack Byrne, in his comeback from injury. Marcus Palmer scored the two Utd goals.
The Harriers took an early lead through a Johnson header from a Malbon cross but then failed to capitalise on their lead until a wake up call on the stroke of halftime when Palmer grabbed his first goal. The only other highlight? of the first period of play was an injury to Anthony Malbon that saw him being subbed by Marc Williams.
After the break the Harriers again took the lead through Williams but soon after Palmer pulled the visitors back into the game once more. It remained that way until the ninetieth minute when the call for extra time arrived.
Again it was Magic Marvin that put us once more into the lead and it didn't take long for him to complete his treble eleven minutes later with a free kick that curled inside the Evesham keepers upright. Four minutes later and our lead was increased beyond the reach of Evesham when Dan Bradley put himself onto the scoresheet and then finally wrapped up at the final whistle with a fine goal from the returning Jack Byrne.
The result puts us into the final against either Worcester City or Stourbridge. The original game was to have been played last week but fell victim of the weather and will now be played on March 6th.
