Leamington 3 Harriers 0

The Harriers failed to win their second friendly in a row today with this defeat at Leamington following Thursday evenings loss at Bishops Cleeve.  What makes this one marginally worse is that at least Thursdays team was made up primarily of triallists but the team today had a good supply of potential first team players in it.

Scott Phelan had our first chance of note when he spotted the Leamington keeper off his line but his deft lob went just over the bar.  Callum Gittings also had a try on goal but his shot was easily held by the keeper just before the home side were awarded a penalty.

Jacob Blyth was bought down in the area but managed to recover enough to take the spot kick himself.  He sent the ball past Danny Lewis easily enough to give his side the lead.  That's every game so far this friendly season that has had a penalty in it.

Blyth doubled the scoreline five minutes before the break when he sent an excellent effort curling into the net just beyond the reach of Lewis.  We'd had a couple of chances for Marc Williams and Lee Vaughan between the goals but nothing really too convincing.

HT: Leamington 2 Harriers 0

Harriers 1st half team:
Lewis, Vaughan, Mike Williams, Jones, Demetriou, Phelan, Gittings, Vincent, Guinan, Marc Williams, Hankin.

Into the second half and Harriers soon went further behind.  Tom Berwick scoring Leamingtons third of the game with another good goal for the home side.

Harriers tried to respond but it was now futile.  Kyle Storer, on for his debut at half time, went close as did Jack Byrne.  Greg Mills just couldn't reach a tempting cross from Luke Medley.

With Leamington seemingly satisfied with their game it was left to the Harriers to ramp up the pressure but that didn't come and we had just one more chance to show from James Vincent before the referee called a halt to the proceedings and the team trooped off to face the wise words of Steve Burr.

FT: Leamington 3 Harriers 0

Harriers 2nd half team: Lewis, Callum Gittings (Byrne), Demetriou (Briscoe) Jones, Mike Williams, Mills, Phelan (Cresswell), Vincent, Storer, Wright, Medley.
