Jack Byrne First of all can I wish everyone connected with both clubs a very happy New Year and may the fortunes of both clubs be on the up and up.  Now I'm going to add in a sidenote that in Forest Greens case I hope their fortunes will only improve after 5.00pm tomorrow.

We won the home tie played on Boxing Day just gone and that win came from a 'latish' Jack Byrne (left) header that was provided on a plate for him by leading scorer Jamille Matt.

Sadly Jack won't be able to return the favour in the return game at the New Lawn because a few days ago he injured himself in training, although some say it was in the sales, and will now be forced to miss the game with a medial ligament injury.  He could well be out for at least a month.

We have no other injuries, except for the long term injury to Danny Lewis.  James Vincent returned to action, following injury, on Monday as a substitute for Lee Hendrie.

FGR will have Jamie Turley and Eddie Oshodi back from the suspensions that ruled them out on Boxing Day but James Rowe is a doubt after he was subbed after just eight minutes due to an injury.  Wayne Turk, who replaced him, is expected to start the game in his place.

Al Bangura, Reece Styche, Chris Todd and Curtis McDonald are all out of action although both Bangura and Todd are both nearing fitness and could well be on the bench if pushed.

This is going to be the usual tough game that we get at Forest Green.  They are no pushover at home and in recent years the referees haven't been on our side either with some strange, harsh decisions against us.  However I think we'll get a result there with us being better on our travels but I think it'll only be a one point result.

Congratulations to Steve Burr for winning the Blues Square Manager of the Month award and also to Jamille Matt for the Player of the Month award.  Both for December obviously.
