Hammering a team good and proper is something that we seem to be unable to achieve nowadays and always seem to rest on our two goals and let the opponent come to us. We have only scored five goals once this season, against Braintree, but we then went and let in four goals. Our last great big win was either the 5-1 away win at Woking in April 2009 or even further back in 2008 when we beat Stafford Rangers 6-0 at home then a few weeks later Halifax Town 6-1 at the Shay.
Now wouldn't it be a great start to the New Year with a well deserved glut of goals and what a way that would be to prove our play-off credentials.
We'll be welcoming our latest signing to the fans tomorrow with Daniel Bradley possibly making an appearance sometime during the game. Who makes way for him could be interesting with Kyle Storer the favourite so far and Callum Gittings also mentioned.
The Harriers manager Steve Burr has already hinted at another signing being made soon but it could be too early for the Hayes game. One player has returned from a loan spell but it's doubtful he'll make the bench. Luke Medley went out on loan to Lincoln City but his time there wasn't too successful and he has now returned after just six substitute appearances and no goals. To say his much trumpeted signing has been a disappointment is surely an understatement of epic proportions.
We could still have Jack Byrne missing from the ranks if his medial ligament injury has not cleared up yet while Hayes will be without Corey Gameiro due to a sending off on Boxing Day against Ebbsfleet.
Hayes have also been busy in the January sales with quite a few new faces coming in to try and save them from relegation. But honestly, two more keepers in addition to their existing three does seem a bit OTT. One of those custodians is Paul Beasant, the son of the former England keeper.
The other newcomers were striker Julian Owusu from Burnham, Phil Walsh who joined on a short term loan from Dagenham & Redbridge and the third arrival is defender Jordan Rose who left Hereford United earlier this season after spending the previous season with struggling Stockport County.
So, with that all said we can now look forwards to a hatful of goals and another three points. Can we?
