Our reward for beating Grimsby Town in the FA Cup yesterday is a very good draw at home to former Premiership side Oldham Athletic. The Harriers were the first out of the hat in the draw that took place at 1.30pm today with out number 54 ball being extracted from the fishbowl by Earl Barratt, himself a former Oldham player and also the scorer of an FA Cup goal against Manchester Utd many moons ago.
Many Harriers fans were hoping for a re-match against Coventry City following our awful defeat there in 2008. Others were hoping for Portsmouth or Sheffield Utd while the more realistic wanted an easy lower league side at home and an easy chance of progressing further.
As it is we now face a side that we have never played before and a great chance of going further if we can beat them. League 1 side Oldham currently sit in mid table in the League and Paul Dickov as their manager. Interestingly one of their squad is Robbie Simpson who appeared for Coventry City in the FA Cup game against us.
Their various websites can be found
here and the game will be played on the weekend of November 3rd/4th.
