Ryan Austin The Harriers made their second signing of the week today with the arrival of defender Ryan Austin, recently released by Burton Albion, but it almost certainly won't be the last.  The reason is that as one comes in then one also goes out.

Heading the other way later this week is our reserve keeper Dean Lyness in something of a dream move bearing in mind that he has hardly been given the chance to put himself in the shop window with us.  In all he made just ten appearances for the Harriers with most of those coming during September and October last year following the injury to first choice stopper Danny Lewis.

It was in the FA Trophy defeat at home to Luton that he last played but Burton must have seen enough of him to be prepared to pay a fee for him.  No doubt that fee will be un-disclosed.

Back to the main gist of this item and more about Ryan Austin.

He was released at the end of last season following seven years with the Brewers and made 245 appearances with them scoring just five times.  Not a free scoring defender then but that's not what we want.  Before joining Burton he was a trainee at Crewe Alexandra but only stayed with them for one season.

The tall, dominant centre back can also play in the right back position so he'll probably make his debut for us in that berth covering for Lee Vaughan who will, once again, be missing the first four games of the season due to his card count.
