Harriers 1 Walsall 2
The Harriers lost out in the first friendly of the season at home to local side Walsall today. In a sweltering heat that would make a camel run for cover the lads lost their first run out 2-1 with our first half goal coming from Anthony Malbon when he headed home Marvin Johnsons cross.
Walsalls goals, also in the first half, came from Craig Westcarr and Romaine Sawyers.
Just before halftime Danny Lewis superbly saved a penalty awarded following a push by Josh Gowling on Westcarr.
The second period saw a change round in players with the notable move being a long awaited return for Jack Byrne following his injury picked up early last season.
That second period lost most of it's interest as a spectacle due to the intense heat and the multitude of substitutions for both sides and the game fizzled out without no other addition to the scoreline.
Of the new faces for the Harriers it was Dior Angus that impressed most with a plenty of darting runs out wide. James dance wasn't present due to him becoming a daddy today. Crafty ;)
Tuesday evening the Harriers will travel over to Stourbridge for, what should be a cooler, run out.
